The Robo-Hornets have teamed up with the Hornets Against Hunger to help feed the hungry!
We assisted in their yearly food drive, encouraging people to donate by grabbing their attention using robots. We also volunteer on a regular basis with their club at the Community Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, helping pack lunches for the Food For Kids program.
Hornets Against Hunger has helped prepare over 50 pallets over the course of five volunteer shifts for the Food For Kids Backpack program — translating to over 9,600 meals. These pallets are shipped out to elementary schools all over Oklahoma and provide kids with food to take home on Friday. Most kids who are hungry only get regular meals from their school, via the free and reduced lunch and breakfast programs; however, on the weekends they don’t have this option.

Hornets Against Hunger volunteers with this program to benefit Oklahoma kids in need. They have also collected over 700 pounds of food for the food bank. According to the Oklahoma Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma, 1.2 pounds is a meal, so we’ve helped provide around 833 meals to those in need. The food that we collect is supplied to soup kitchens, food pantries, emergency shelters, and after-school programs, so it benefits families and kids. Hornets Against Hunger has collectively volunteered about 360 hours at the food bank, with a total of 145 volunteers.
